Tamil Superstar Suriya Finds Comfort and Closeness in Mumbai Home, Prioritizing Family
CHENNAI/MUMBAI – Celebrated Tamil actor Suriya, currently generating buzz for his upcoming family drama ‘Vishwanath and Sons’, has offered a rare glimpse into his family’s life in Mumbai and the profound reasons behind their relocation. The actor, along with his wife, actress Jyotika, and their children, Diya and Dev, made the move to the bustling metropolis during the pandemic, a decision driven by a dual purpose: to bring Jyotika closer to her parents and to facilitate her resurgence in the Bollywood industry.

A Smaller Home, Greater Comfort
During a recent promotional interview with anchor Suma, Suriya opened up about his affection for their Mumbai residence, emphasizing how its more modest size contributes to a sense of greater comfort compared to their expansive luxury bungalow in Chennai.
“Mumbai is almost like a holiday for me,” Suriya explained, detailing his unique work-life balance. “I work here (Chennai), then I go for a holiday there. It’s a smaller house. We stay in a 1700 sq ft house. So, two steps bedroom, two steps living room, two steps kitchen, two steps dining area. It’s a nice, cosy house, which gives us a lot of comfort.”
The acclaimed actor elaborated on the intangible qualities that make their Mumbai home special. “A lot of memories, a lot of warmth. It’s a lot of love everywhere,” he shared. “I can immediately call Diya or Dev; there’s just one step away. Not many people know what we do there, so it’s nice.” This sense of intimacy and privacy, he suggests, is a cherished aspect of their new life.
Jyotika’s Parents: The Driving Force
Suriya further clarified that the primary motivation behind their relocation was the well-being and proximity to Jyotika’s parents, who reside in Mumbai. Dispelling any notions of a dramatic escape, he stated, “She has not gone to Russia or Japan. She has gone to her own…her mother’s place. The main priority was, of course, for her parents. But also, work is happening there simultaneously.” This candid revelation underscores the strong family values held by the couple.
Suriya and Jyotika’s enduring love story began with their marriage on September 11, 2006, in Chennai, following several years of courtship. They welcomed their daughter, Diya, in 2007, and their son, Dev, in 2010, building a strong family foundation that continues to be their priority.
On the Professional Front: ‘Vishwanath and Sons’
While cherishing his family life, Suriya continues to captivate audiences with his cinematic endeavors. He is set to star in ‘Vishwanath and Sons’, a highly anticipated film directed by Venky Atluri. The movie also features Mamitha Baiju and Radhika Sarathkumar in significant roles, promising an engaging cinematic experience.
