In aviation news, Tewolde Gebremariam has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India. He succeeds Campbell Wilson, who was acknowledged by the board for his leadership. Air India’s board sought a successor with a “proven record of managing mega-scale airline turnarounds, delivering operational excellence, fostering a strong culture of safety and service, and driving profitable expansion” to lead the airline into its next phase of growth. Gebremariam previously served for a decade as CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, where he transformed it from a regional carrier into Africa’s largest, most profitable, and most decorated airline group.

Meanwhile, Navan has enhanced its connection to Singapore Airlines’ NDC (New Distribution Capability) by establishing a direct link using the carrier’s Amadeus Altéa NDC 21.3 API. This upgrade has resulted in over 70% of Singapore Airlines bookings now being processed through the NDC channel. Built on Navan’s proprietary content aggregation platform, the integration aims to provide a stronger foundation for faster troubleshooting, future API enhancements, and a more consistent shopping and servicing experience. Travelers will now benefit from access to Singapore Airlines NDC-exclusive fares, customized fare bundles, and ancillary content, alongside faster and more efficient booking changes, cancellations, and refunds. Dane Molter, Senior Vice President, Group Travel Marketplace at Navan, emphasized the importance of Singapore Airlines as a partner in connecting business travelers across the Asia Pacific and stated that this direct NDC connection will allow Navan to integrate the airline’s rich content and deliver an improved traveler experience that elevates airline retailing standards.

A new feature allows users to cancel eligible flights directly through a conversation with Delta Concierge, with the assistant promptly submitting a refund request or issuing an eCredit in real-time. Eric Phillips, Chief Digital Officer at Delta, noted that the company has closely observed customer usage of Concierge and swiftly incorporated requested features. Making the service available to all SkyMiles Members is a significant step towards empowering customers with greater control over their travel.
