The highly anticipated romantic-action drama, Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi, has stormed the box office, demonstrating a remarkable performance in its initial days. Following an impressive opening, the film, which premiered on Friday, has continued to garner significant attention and strong financial returns on its first Saturday. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, this sequel to the 2007 hit “Awarapan” seems to be successfully leveraging both nostalgia and a compelling musical score to draw audiences into theaters.
On its second day, the film experienced a substantial surge in its earnings, showing a 53.4% growth compared to its opening day collection. Reports from Sacnilk indicate that “Awarapan 2” accumulated a formidable ₹33.75 crore across 10,496 screens in India on Saturday. This robust performance pushed the total net collection within India to ₹55.75 crore, with the gross collection reaching an impressive ₹66.90 crore. Internationally, the film added another ₹3.50 crore on Day 2, bringing its total overseas gross to ₹6.00 crore. These combined figures translate to a staggering worldwide gross collection of ₹72.90 crore within just two days of its release.
The film’s box office triumph is particularly noteworthy given its competition. “Awarapan 2” directly clashed with Sunny Deol’s “Batwara 1947,” a partition drama that ultimately failed to outperform the Emraan Hashmi-Disha Patani starrer. Furthermore, the movie is also contending with the Hollywood blockbuster “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which was released on July 30, 2026. Despite being in its third week and having fewer screens allocated, the Marvel film has presented a formidable challenge, highlighting the competitive landscape of the entertainment industry. The cast of “Awarapan 2” includes Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, and Suvinder Vicky, with the film having premiered in cinemas on August 14, 2026.
