IIT Kanpur’s C3iHub Spearheads Cybersecurity Education in Hindi, Targeting Over 3 Lakh Students
Kanpur, India – In a significant move to democratize cybersecurity education, C3iHub, the cybersecurity innovation hub at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has officially partnered with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRAU), Agra, and the Vivekanand Incubation Foundation (VIF) to launch a comprehensive online cybersecurity course delivered entirely in Hindi. This pioneering initiative aims to bridge the language barrier and make vital cyber knowledge accessible to a much broader audience, particularly across Uttar Pradesh.
The collaboration is poised to reach an impressive cohort of over 300,000 students enrolled in more than 570 colleges affiliated with DBRAU. This expansive reach underscores the partners’ commitment to fostering a digitally secure and aware generation, especially in regions where English-medium technical education might be less prevalent.
The meticulously designed curriculum will delve into a wide array of critical cybersecurity topics. Students will gain practical insights into the pervasive threats of cybercrime, the fundamentals of cyber hygiene, and the inherent risks associated with social media. The course will also specifically address prevalent issues such as identity theft, personal data leaks, and crucial online safety measures tailored for women and children. Beyond these foundational areas, the program will explore more advanced and concerning subjects like the dark web, cyber terrorism, and other illicit online activities, equipping students with a holistic understanding of the contemporary cyber landscape.
Recognizing the importance of practical application, the course will move beyond theoretical instruction. It incorporates interactive quizzes, engaging workshops, and virtual labs, ensuring students receive hands-on experience and develop practical skills crucial for navigating the digital world safely.
Professor Ashu Rani, Vice Chancellor of DBRAU, emphasized the growing universal relevance of cybersecurity. "Cybersecurity should no longer be seen as a subject meant only for engineering students," she stated, highlighting the need for this knowledge across all disciplines and sections of society. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing this significant collaboration was signed by representatives from C3iHub, DBRAU, and VIF during a ceremony attended by Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, and other esteemed officials.
