Former U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a blistering personal attack against Ontario Premier Doug Ford, dismissing the Canadian leader’s recent criticisms as “bluster” and threatening dire consequences for Canada’s economy.

The exchange follows a breakdown in weekend trade talks, during which Ford openly likened Trump’s negotiating tactics to those of a “bully at school.”

Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump did not hold back in his rebuttal, directing his ire at Ford while dragging the memory of his late brother, former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, into the fray. Trump labeled the Ontario Premier as “the less charismatic, intelligent, and overall unimpressive brother” of the late mayor, who passed away in 2016.

The war of words underscores a deepening rift between the two nations. Trump’s post sought to diminish Canada’s economic standing, asserting that the United States has been “carrying” its northern neighbor for decades.

“The U.S. will always be far bigger, richer, and stronger than Canada,” Trump wrote, further claiming that without the support of the United States, Canada “couldn’t survive.”

Trump’s commentary also targeted Canadian federal leadership, referring to officials as “clowns” and explicitly naming Canadian authorities—misidentifying or conflating current figures—while accusing them of exploiting the U.S. economy. He warned that the era of what he perceives as Canadian advantage is coming to an end.

“They will not be allowed to keep taking advantage of the United States — Their key to survival,” Trump stated. “Someone should get these clowns to ‘fall in line’ or, the consequences for Canada will be far WORSE!”
