Better Bakehouse Snack Company Issues Recall for Donuts Following Allergic Reaction
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Better Bakehouse Snack Company has initiated a nationwide recall of select lots of its “Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts” due to a mislabeling error that may pose a significant health risk to consumers.
According to a notice released Monday by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the products were found to contain undeclared milk. The recall was prompted after a consumer reported experiencing an allergic reaction to the snack; thankfully, the affected individual has since recovered.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the FDA warned in its official statement.
Scope of the Recall
The recall is limited to specific lots manufactured and distributed in March 2026. The affected items are sold as “Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts, 10 Mini Donuts,” packaged in 7.05 oz cartons that contain five 1.41-ounce pouches. Consumers are advised to check their packaging for the following identifiers:
- Product Name: Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts
- Package Size: 7.05 oz carton (containing five 1.41-ounce pouches)
- UPC Code: 3 50041 39210 3
The product was distributed to retail locations nationwide and was also available for purchase through Amazon.com.
Company Response
In response to the discovery of the mislabeling, the Better Bakehouse Snack Company stated that it has already implemented “corrective measures” to prevent future occurrences. The company is currently coordinating with its contract manufacturer and retail partners to ensure all remaining affected inventory is pulled from store shelves and online platforms.
“Consumer safety is The Better Bakehouse Snack Company’s #1 priority, and the company maintains rigorous food safety and quality control standards,” the company said in a press release provided by the FDA.
Consumers who have purchased these chocolate dipped donuts are urged not to consume them. Those with a milk allergy or sensitivity should dispose of the product immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
