Priyadarshan is currently gearing up for the release of his next, Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. The movie is set to arrive in cinemas in April this year. Apart from that, he also has ‘Haiwaan’, featuring Akshay and Saif Ali Khan as leads. Recently, the filmmaker opened up about working with Khan after 16 long years.
Priyadarshan on working with Saif Ali Khan
Speaking about collaborating with Saif Ali Khan, Priyadarshan told Mid-Day, “The producers told me Saif was available. When we went to him, he was excited, so that’s how [he came onboard].”Talking about the actor, the filmmaker added, “Every morning, he comes with 10 questions. Once that one doubt is cleared, he forgets the other nine and says, ‘Okay, I’m ready.’ He’s like a very cute [but] mature child.”

Talking about collaborating with Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan said, “I’m doing two films with him. For me, there’s no difference between then [Khatta Meetha, 2010] and now.”The director added, “He believes in me. Hence, I feel a huge responsibility to deliver for him. With me, he doesn’t ask many questions. He just says, ‘What do you want me to do?’ I explain what I expect, and he immediately does it.”

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is an official Hindi remake of the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Oppam’. Apart from Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, it also features Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar. Reportedly, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will make a special appearance in the movie. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.
