Kelly Osbourne Reflects on Grieving Her Father Ozzy Osbourne: ‘A Part of Me Died, Too’

More than a year after the world mourned the loss of rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, his daughter, television personality Kelly Osbourne, is offering an intimate look at the family’s deeply personal journey through grief. In a candid interview, Kelly revealed the unconventional way the family processed their loss in the immediate aftermath of his passing.

A Private Farewell at Home

Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Prince of Darkness, passed away in July 2025 at the age of 76 following a fatal heart attack. In a departure from typical funeral arrangements, the Osbourne family chose to bypass the morgue entirely.

“We didn’t put my dad in any sort of morgue,” Kelly shared with Hello! magazine. “He came straight home, and we got to spend a few days with him and mourn with him and make sure that everything was the way we wanted it to be.”

This period of mourning in the comfort of their home allowed the family—including wife Sharon and children Aimee, Jack, and his children from his first marriage, Elliot, Jessica, and Louis—to say their goodbyes on their own terms, away from the public eye.

The Healing Power of Fan Support

While the family retreated into their private space, they remained keenly aware of the outpouring of love from Ozzy’s massive global fanbase. Kelly credited the support from followers as a vital lifeline during their darkest days.

“It saved us,” Kelly said. “Every note, every flower, every gift that was sent to us—we received, we read, we acknowledged. It showed us that they loved him as much as we loved him.”

Navigating Personal Struggles

Kelly was also remarkably transparent about the toll her father’s death took on her own mental and physical well-being. Admitting that she did not handle the initial period of grief well, she noted, “I wasn’t well. How can you navigate something so cruel when you’re so sick? I’m getting a lot better. I’ve got all the help I need, and I’m grateful for the support I have in my life.”

For Kelly, the loss has fundamentally altered her identity. “I’ll never be the person I was before my father died,” she reflected. “A part of me died, too. Everything is different. I’m different.”

As she continues to piece her life back together, Kelly emphasized that the healing process is a slow, ongoing journey. “Everything has changed, but it’s just taking it one day at a time and putting the pieces back together in a way that you think will work.”

The death of the music icon left a void in both the rock industry and his tight-knit family, but these recent reflections serve as a poignant reminder of the humanity behind the legendary persona.
