Tengo Project Announces 16-Bit Remake of Classic Shooter ‘Cybernetic Attack: Final Mission’
The development team at Tengo Project has officially pulled the curtain back on their latest retro-inspired project: Cybernetic Attack: Final Mission. This upcoming title serves as a modern, 16-bit-style reimagining of the cult-classic 8-bit side-scrolling shoot ’em up, S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team.
A Blast from the Past
Originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System on June 22, 1990, S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team—known as Final Mission in Japan—is remembered for its intense, fast-paced action and distinctive co-op mechanics. The original game challenged players to control cybernetically enhanced soldiers fighting off an alien invasion, a premise that the remake aims to honor while significantly upgrading the presentation.
Modern Polish with Classic Roots
Tengo Project has built a reputation for breathing new life into forgotten classics, having previously delivered acclaimed titles like Pocky & Rocky Reshrined and Shadow of the Ninja Reborn. Much like those predecessors, Cybernetic Attack: Final Mission will feature high-fidelity, 16-bit-style pixel art that captures the aesthetic charm of the early 90s while providing a much-needed visual overhaul for modern displays.
Beyond the graphical updates, developers have confirmed that the remake will introduce new playable characters and additional gameplay features, promising a deeper experience for both long-time fans of the original and newcomers to the genre.

The developer has emphasized the international appeal of the project, confirming that the game will launch with support for a wide array of languages. Players will be able to enjoy the action in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

While specific platforms and a final release date have yet to be disclosed, fans won’t have to wait long to see the game in action. Cybernetic Attack: Final Mission is scheduled to be playable at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2026, which will be held from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
