His marathon knock was punctuated by 27 boundaries and 10 towering sixes, lifting his side to a total of 676 for eight.

The monumental effort allowed Bangladesh A to secure a 164-run lead over their hosts, who had posted a formidable 512 in their first innings. Although the match ultimately ended in a draw, the headlines were entirely captured by Hridoy’s historic display.

With this performance, Hridoy became only the third Bangladeshi cricketer to reach a first-class triple century. More importantly, he surpassed the previous record held by the legendary Tamim Iqbal—whose unbeaten 334 had stood as the benchmark for years—as well as Raqibul Hasan’s 313.

Hridoy’s achievement carries extra weight as he became the first Bangladeshi to register a first-class score of 300-plus on foreign soil. His performance was so dominant that he now holds the highest first-class score by an overseas batter in South Africa, joining an elite group—only former South African international Stephen Cook, who once scored 390, has recorded a higher individual score on South African first-class turf.

Reflecting on his historic feat, a composed Hridoy expressed that the innings has served as a massive confidence booster. “To be honest, this innings gave me a lot of confidence. After picking the Man of the Match trophy, I felt that someday I will play an innings like this for the national team,” he remarked.
