Box Office Analysis: Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Faces Steep Decline, Lifetime Collections Projected at Rs. 145-148 Crore

The highly anticipated cinematic outing Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, headlined by Kannada superstar Yash, has hit a significant roadblock at the Indian box office. Despite a thunderous opening, the Geetu Mohandas directorial has struggled to maintain momentum, leaving industry analysts to temper their expectations for its final performance.

A Powerful Start, Followed by a Sharp Decline

The film made a massive splash on its opening day, pulling in an impressive Rs. 50.31 crore in its Hindi version alone. However, the initial euphoria was short-lived. Following the grand debut, the movie witnessed a consistent erosion in daily collections throughout its extended opening weekend.

The numbers tell a story of dwindling interest: after the opening day high, the film collected Rs. 21.75 crore on Thursday, followed by Rs. 17.40 crore (Friday), Rs. 13.90 crore (Saturday), and Rs. 13.12 crore (Sunday). The downward trajectory hit a critical point this past Monday, when collections plummeted by nearly 69 percent to Rs. 4.09 crore.

While Tuesday’s collection remained steady at Rs. 4.05 crore, trade experts warn that this “hold” is largely attributed to promotional offers and ticket discounts rather than organic audience demand. As the film enters its second week, all eyes are on whether it can stabilize or if it will continue its rapid descent.

Lifetime Projections: The Quest for the 150-Crore Mark

With a first-week total of Rs. 124.62 crore, Toxic finds itself in a precarious position. Given the current weekday occupancies and a looming reduction in theater showtimes, analysts estimate that the film will add only an additional Rs. 20–23 crore to its tally from this point forward.

Projections suggest a second weekend haul between Rs. 7–9 crore, which would likely push the total domestic earnings to approximately Rs. 138–141 crore by the end of its second week. With limited business expected in subsequent weeks, the film’s Toxic box office collection is now estimated to settle in the range of Rs. 145–148 crore.

A Disappointing Trend for a Major Star Vehicle

The most striking metric for observers is the film’s failure to even triple its opening day numbers. For a project of this magnitude, featuring an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, and Huma Qureshi, reaching the Rs. 150 crore milestone now seems increasingly unlikely barring an unforeseen resurgence in footfall.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic was marketed as a grand “Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.” However, as the numbers suggest, the film is now racing against time to finish its theatrical run before momentum completely evaporates. Unless the upcoming weekend provides a miraculous turnaround, the film will likely conclude its run significantly lower than the lofty expectations set by its record-breaking opening.
