Sony Unveils Limited Edition Grand Theft Auto 6 DualSense Controllers

As the release of the most anticipated game in history draws near, Sony has officially joined the hype cycle. During the recent State of Play broadcast, the company announced two stunning, limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers themed around the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6.

A Tribute to Vice City

The new hardware, available in both black and white variants, serves as a direct homage to the game’s setting, Vice City. According to the official PlayStation Blog, the design philosophy behind these controllers centers on capturing the duality of the city—from the sun-drenched coastal days to the electric, neon-soaked nightlife.

Both models feature a sophisticated purple pearlescent finish that shimmers and shifts color, mirroring the glow of a sunset reflecting off urban neon lights. Adding a tactile, premium feel, the controllers are embossed with the iconic palm tree motif seen throughout the game’s marketing material, paired with large Roman numerals “VI” etched into the touchpad.

Pricing and Availability

Fans eager to get their hands on these collector’s items should mark their calendars. The controllers are set to launch on November 19, retailing at $84.99 USD / €84.99 / £74.99 / ¥12,480.

Pre-orders are scheduled to open on September 10 at 10:00 am local time. While PlayStation has confirmed that the units will be sold through PlayStation Direct, the company has yet to disclose which third-party retailers will stock the limited-edition peripherals.

Building the Hype

The reveal comes during a period of intense promotional activity for the Rockstar Games title. Just last week, Netflix premiered a special, Grand Theft Auto: An Extended Look, which provided further insight into the world of the sequel. However, the showcase also brought some sobering news for performance enthusiasts, confirming that the title will run at 30 frames per second on current-generation consoles at launch, with no performance mode available.

These controllers join a storied history of limited-run PlayStation hardware. While some releases, such as the Astro Bot controller, proved to be massive retail successes that vanished from shelves in days, others have lingered as niche collector’s items. Given the global fervor surrounding GTA 6, it is highly likely that these Vice City-themed controllers will be among the most sought-after accessories of the year.
