Circular Expands Smart Ring Market with New Ring 3 Pro and Slim Models
The crowded landscape of wearable technology is getting a new contender. Circular, a prominent player in the smart ring sector, officially unveiled its upcoming Ring 3 series on Thursday. The new lineup, which splits into a high-performance “Pro” model and a streamlined “Slim” option, arrives as the industry faces a surge in demand and stiff competition from the likes of the Oura Ring 5 and RingConn Gen 3.
Two Paths to Wellness
Recognizing that consumer needs vary, Circular has designed the two models to cater to different segments of the market. The Ring 3 Pro is built for power users, offering a suite of medical-grade features. This includes FDA-cleared ECG functionality for AFib detection, blood pressure trend tracking, and glucose monitoring, alongside advanced sleep analysis and a comprehensive biometric tracking suite. It also boasts a significant battery improvement, delivering up to 12 days of use on a single charge.
Conversely, the Ring 3 Slim targets users who prioritize comfort and aesthetics without sacrificing functionality. It offers a thinner, lighter profile while still delivering essential health metrics, including heart rate, HRV, SpO₂, skin temperature, sleep quality, and daily activity. Despite its compact size, the Slim model still manages a respectable 10-day battery life.
Shared Features and Design
While the internals differ, both models share a focus on convenience and hardware quality. A standout feature across the entire series is the integration of an NFC chip, allowing users to make contactless payments directly from their finger. Furthermore, both rings feature an onboard vibration motor. These haptic alerts are designed to serve as silent, discreet alarms, medication reminders, or vital health notifications, and can even facilitate guided breathing exercises.
Both rings are crafted from titanium steel, feature 50-meter water resistance, and support wireless charging. They will be available in sizes ranging from 6 to 14, maintaining the signature aesthetic of the Circular brand with color options in gold, rose gold, silver, and black.
The Competitive Landscape
The launch comes during a pivotal year for the smart ring industry. Following the recent entries from major rivals, Circular is doubling down on its “lifestyle-first” approach.
“We understand that not everyone wants every health feature,” said Circular CEO Amaury Kosman in a statement. “Many people simply want a beautifully designed, fashionable smart ring that delivers essential wellness insights and effortless contactless payments. That’s why we created Circular Ring 3 Slim.”
While Circular has yet to reveal official pricing or a specific launch date, the company has confirmed that preorders will open in the coming months. Fans of the brand can look forward to the devices hitting the market in early 2027.
