Indian manufacturers launch ‘world first’ 34-inch inkjet web press

The knowzzleJet M880 has been designed for high-volume and high-speed digital production and is marketed as an ‘ideal alternative’ to traditional web offset for short to medium runs.

Tej Prakash Jain, managing director at Monotech, said: “The knowzzleJet M880 represents a significant step forward in our vision to drive innovation in digital printing.

“Building something that has never been built before – the world’s first 34-inch roll-to-fold inkjet web press – is both a proud and defining achievement for us.”

The press comes in two configurations, a fixed cut option to align with conventional web offset workflows and a variable cut option that enables variable printing capabilities.

It features speeds of up to 150m/min and allows for continuous, stable operation for high-volume production.

Four resolution options are available, and the press is powered by Memjet DuraLink printhead technology. It is integrated with Xitron RIP which offers seamless variable data printing and aims to ensure smooth integration with existing digital workflows.

Officially launched on 19 March, the printer is currently available for purchase in the UK via the manufacturer.

There is not currently an appointed distributor in the UK, however the firm is actively scouting for a partner in the region.

Standard lead time for the machine is typically 14-16 weeks depending on configuration with earlier delivery possible based on the availability of units, Printweek was told.

Pricing depends on the selected model and configuration.

The machine was a collaboration between Tamil Nadu-headquartered manufacturer for printing and packaging, Monotech, and New Delhi-based Pressline India Private Limited, a manufacturer of inkjet web and web offset printing machinery.

Jain commented: “This collaboration brings together deep engineering expertise and market understanding to create a solution that truly bridges the gap between offset and digital.

“With this launch, we aim to empower printers with the speed, flexibility, and efficiency they need to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving industry.”
