Children and their families came together for a morning of Easter fun, sensory play and storytelling during a special meet-up at The Nook.
The event also featured bespoke music therapy sessions and was organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Another highlight was decorating hard-boiled eggs and then playing a game where children rolled them down a tube to see which cracked first.
The event was one of EACH’s monthly Monday Meet-Up sessions – a chance for children and families to take time out and connect with others. They are designed for parents and carers, as well as babies, pre-school children and those receiving care and unable to access school.
Six families attended this special Easter gathering, including mums, a dad, a grandmother, an auntie, a carer and a sibling. The youngsters ranged in age from a six-month-old baby to a 16-year-old.
“Events like this are all about creating special moments for families,” said EACH Play Therapist Heidi Foster.
“Seeing children laugh, parents relax and everyone sharing in the joy of the day is what makes it so meaningful.
“Our Monday Meet-Up sessions have been running for over a year, and this was the biggest turnout so far.
“We had lots of newcomers, and it was lovely seeing new connections being formed and developed.
“It’s a fun, safe space and a supportive, positive environment for families sharing similar journeys. One mum described it as magical, because she could see how much fun her child was having.”
Families were able to enjoy bespoke sessions with EACH Music Therapist Jane Rous-Milligan.
There was sensory play with a Spring theme, giving youngsters the chance to explore various textures and noises, including feathers, tissue paper, toy chicks, plastic eggs and Easter nests.
The children also had fun hearing a story called We’re Going on an Egg Hunt, by Laura Hughes.
Each Monday Meet-Up session has a special theme, with upcoming examples including farm and zoo animals.
