Man arrested on suspicion of murder after man found dead in Liverpool city centre

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in Liverpool city centre. At around 3.50am this morning (Wednesday, April 8), Merseyside Police received a report that a man in his 40s had been found dead inside the You Matter building, formerly known as the YMCA, on Leeds Street.

A post-mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of his death. A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into police custody to be questioned.

Officers remain at the scene as enquiries are ongoing. Multiple police cars, vans and forensic vans were spotted outside the building by the ECHO this morning.
