Several firefighter crews are in attendance as fires break out for the second day
Two more moorland fires break out near Greater Manchester as crews battle multiple blazes
• Two more moorland fires have broken out close to Greater Manchester this afternoon, with emergency services currently at the scene.
• This follows four separate wildfires that erupted on Saddleworth and Marsden Moors on Tuesday (April 8), causing large-scale devastation.
• West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are now tackling new blazes in Blackstone Edge and Marsden Clough areas. The public are being urged to stay away and leave immediately.
• The fires come as the UK experienced its hottest day of the year so far on Wednesday, with temperatures exceeding 20C in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.
• “We are asking all members of the public to stay away from Marsden Moors,” the fire service said.
