Balaji Telefilms Ltd’s Balaji Studios has announced a strategic collaboration with Vertigo TV to produce a new slate of Hindi vertical microdramas, targeting the rapidly growing mobile-first entertainment audience.
The partnership aims to redefine storytelling formats for digital consumers by combining Balaji’s creative legacy with Vertigo TV’s distribution strength in vertical-format content. This marks a significant step in building a new category of short-form, immersive storytelling tailored for smartphone viewing.
Nitin Burman said microdramas represent a shift towards “quick, engaging, and emotionally immediate” narratives that align with evolving audience preferences. He added that the collaboration would enable the creation of impactful Indian stories designed for fast-paced digital consumption.
The CEO of Vertigo TV highlighted that the partnership with Balaji Telefilms—long regarded as a pioneer in Indian television and digital content—will help deliver high-quality Hindi microdramas that resonate with modern viewers.
Vertigo TV, an emerging OTT platform, focuses on short, cinematic, mobile-optimised content, catering especially to younger audiences who increasingly consume entertainment on smartphones. The platform already hosts a diverse mix of Hindi, Chinese, Korean and English microdramas.
The collaboration is among the first large-scale initiatives in India dedicated to premium vertical microdrama production. It aims to establish a fresh storytelling format rooted in Indian contexts while maintaining global appeal.
As part of the partnership, the companies will co-develop original content across multiple genres, including romance, thriller and youth-centric narratives. Industry observers expect the initiative to set new benchmarks in India’s digital entertainment landscape by merging Balaji’s storytelling expertise with Vertigo’s innovative content delivery model.
