Plans have been submitted for a development featuring hundreds of homes on agricultural land in a West Midlands village, which the applicant behind the scheme said would create a “vibrant, sustainable and well-connected new living environment”.
The application site, known as Golden End Farms, extends to approximately 30 acres and is located off Kenilworth Road to the immediate east of the centre of Knowle, Solihull.
Richborough is seeking outline permission from Solihull Council to build up to 300 homes across the site, allowing for a mix of housing types, sizes and tenures, 50 per cent of which would be allocated as affordable.
About 17.2 acres of land is earmarked for green and blue infrastructure including a community park and children’s play areas.
A design and access statement said the project would create a “vibrant, sustainable and well-connected new living environment of exceptional quality”.
“Taking cues from the local context, the development will blend Knowle’s distinct character with modern sustainable design principles, providing a mix of housing suitable for people at every stage of life,” it added. “With a commitment to achieving a communityled design, the development will promote active lifestyles and integrate existing natural landscape features with new community-focused open space, tree-lined streets and quality areas for play.
“The development will create a place that residents are proud to call home, delivering a distinctive, landscape-driven scheme which leaves a positive legacy and respectfully integrates into the village context and countryside edge.”
