One man documented the moment he caught someone in the act trying to break into his flat after days of odd behaviour, and he couldn’t believe who the suspect was

A man has shared the thrilling moment when he caught someone in the middle of a suspected ‘break in‘ attempt, and was left baffled to learn who it was.
One fear that most people have, whether they rent or own their homes, is that someone will break in to their home without their permission or knowledge. This fear came true for one man named Tommy, Mellor, who took to social media to share the moment he stopped a ‘break in’ attempt in action after a few days of off behaviour, but the suspect wasn’t who he’d expected it to be.
Taking to TikTok, Tommy explained that he knew someone had been near his apartment, as he would often find his door mat, which he has laying inside the entrance of his home, being on the other side of his front door.
“Someone has been trying to break into my apartment,” Tommy said at the start of his video, which showed some shadows moving around on the other side of his front door.
He went on to explain to viewers that over the past few days when he come home from work, the mat that he keeps at the entrance of his home has mysteriously been laying out in the hallway, on the other side of the door, which he showed proof of in the video.
“And today, I finally figured out who it was,” Tommy revealed. “I finally caught them in the act.”
The video then cut to Tommy zooming in on his door mat, which was moving side to side, before a white paw appeared from the other side of the door, dragging the mat towards them under the door.
Tommy then opened the door to reveal a grey and white cat looking up at Tommy, unsure of what to do next as he’d been caught in the act.
Several people soon took to the comments to share their thoughts on the unexpected outcome, as some went on to defend the kleptomaniac cat for his actions.
“I’m this cats lawyer and you only have circumstantial evidence,” one viewer jokingly commented. Meanwhile, someone else also said: “Do you have proof the mat is yours? Kitty makes a compelling ownership argument.”
A third viewer shared: “My cat pulls the bathroom mat out from under the door all the time. I just thank her for redecorating.”
“Ok but HOW did the cat know the mat was there??” someone else wondered.
Several people also questioned the possibility of the crime, as they wondered why there were such a big gap between the floor and the front door.
“Am I the only one questioning why there is such a gap underneath the door,” one person said. Another wrote: “My question would be. WHY THE F. is there so much space under the door.”
A third also questioned: “Sorry I have questions. Is someone letting their cat free roam in an apartment building??”
