Two children hit by van in Croxteth as officers search for one of casualties

Police are looking to find a boy who left the scene after being struck by the van in Croxteth

Two children were hit by a van in Croxteth this afternoon, Tuesday (April 21). Police were called to the scene on Altcross Road at 4.34pm following a report from the North West Ambulance Service about the collision.

A seven year-old child was taken to hospital for treatment. The other casualty, a 10 year-old boy, left the scene with someone else, Merseyside Police said, and officers are in the process of finding him. The driver of the van stopped at the scene.

The roads policing unit attended and a road closure was put in place from Altcross Road to Riviera Drive.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix said at 5.07pm: “Altcross Road in both directions is partially blocked due to an accident from Riviera Drive to Moss Way. Traffic is coping well.”

Altcross Road had reopened when the ECHO visited the scene at 7.20pm.
