Attempted murder investigation launched after woman stabbed in Middleton


A man has been arrested

An attempted murder investigation has been launched after a woman was stabbed. Police and paramedics were called to Mellalieu Street in Middleton at around 12pm on Wednesday (April 22).

A woman was found with serious injuries, Greater Manchester Police said. She was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

The force said a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was being quizzed by detectives on Thursday (April 23).

Images from the scene show an officer guarding the scene. The front garden of a home was taped off, with a crime scene investigation van parked outside.

The full GMP statement reads: “We were called at around 12pm on Wednesday 22 April 2026 to reports of a stabbing on Mellalieu Street, in Middleton.

“Emergency services attended and a woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning.”

No further details have been released.
