Williamsport, Pa. — A new chain restaurant with a drive-thru is being planned for a lot at the corner of Mulberry Street and Via Bella, according to officials.
Last month, a revised land development plan for the restaurant was approved by the city planning commission.
Representatives for the developer, Allan Emerson Company, would not disclose the name of the potential business until things are finalized. “They didn’t tell us what it was,” said Scott Williams, assistant director of community and economic development and city planner.
The restaurant will be at 155 Mulberry Street, south of Robert M. Sides and next to a traffic circle on Via Bella. Williams said the land development plan was for a 2,440 square-foot building with 320 square-feet of dining area. The parking lot will have 17 spaces.
The Williamsport Parking Authority owns several lots throughout the city, and has been selling a few off.
The lot currently is owned by the Williamsport Parking Authority, according to Williams. It had not been used as a city parking lot for quite some time. A sale of the lot to the developer is pending.
The developer is expected to make an announcement and hold a groundbreaking at a later date, Williams said.
