Green spaces top Ealing environment vote – EALING.NEWS – The Voice of Ealing’s 7 towns

Ealing residents attending a local animal fair have highlighted protecting green spaces and opposing harmful developments as key environmental concerns ahead of the local Ealing Council elections taking place in May

Visitors to the Ealing Animal Fair last week (7 March 2026) were invited by campaign group Ealing Friends of the Earth to vote on which environmental policies mattered most to them before the 7 May 2026 elections. A total of 134 votes were cast across 10 policy areas.

The most popular option was plant more trees and improve green spaces, which received 28 votes. It was followed by more resilient and united communities and say no to harmful planning developments, which each received 26 votes.

Other priorities included funding local climate solutions, which received 12 votes. Lower energy bills and warmer homes and welcoming refugees and migrants both received nine votes.

Protecting communities from extreme weather and creating more local green jobs and training for young people each received seven votes. Helping local farmers adapt to extreme weather received six votes, while better public transport and cleaner air received five.

A spokesperson for Ealing Friends of the Earth said: “For the May 2026 local elections, you have the chance to decide what policies you’d like to campaign for. Together, your demands can tell a hopeful, justice-centred story about how climate action can improve people’s lives in your community.”

The group said the results would be brought together in a “Charter of Hope” and sent to local election candidates.
