The Taj Story, starring Paresh Rawal, has now made its OTT debut. The controversial courtroom drama is currently streaming on Lionsgate Play, which is also available via Amazon Prime Video.
However, the film has been released only in Hindi. Earlier announcement from the OTT platform suggested that Telugu and Tamil versions would also premiere alongside the Hindi version, but the platform has not released those dubbed versions, disappointing viewers who were waiting for them.
Directed by Tushar Amrish Goel, the film follows Vishnu Das, a tour guide who seeks to uncover what he believes is the true history behind the Taj Mahal. His quest leads to a public interest litigation and an intense courtroom debate over the monument’s origins.
The film drew attention during its theatrical release for touching upon the “Tejo Mahalaya” theory, which claims that the Taj Mahal was originally a Hindu temple. Despite the controversy, the movie had a modest run in theatres.
Besides Paresh Rawal, the film also features Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, Namit Das, and Sneha Wagh in key roles. The film is produced by CA Suresh Jha.
