Rajab Butt withdraws case transfer plea – Life & Style

A petition filed on behalf of Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt seeking the transfer of his case out of Karachi was withdrawn before the Sindh High Court on Monday, prompting the court to dispose of the request.

Butt’s lawyer informed the court that the petition was being withdrawn, following which the bench questioned counsel on the current status of proceedings at the district court level.

The lawyer disclosed that the investigating officer in the case had not yet submitted the challan — the formal charge sheet — before the relevant court.

The court observed that a transfer application could not be entertained at such a preliminary stage, stating that any such petition could only be filed once the challan had been submitted to the court. The bench accordingly disposed of the petition.

The transfer petition had originally been filed, citing fears of violence at the city courts.
