Sky News was halted on Wednesday for a breaking news alert as correspondent Sally Lockwood reported live from Dubai that Donald Trump’s Project Freedom in the Strait of Hormuz had been paused
Sky News interrupted its programming for a breaking news bulletin on Wednesday in a fresh setback to US President Donald Trump. Correspondent Sally Lockwood provided live updates from Dubai as she revealed that the prominent politician has announced a suspension to “Project Freedom”.
The brief initiative lasted merely around two days, as Sally reported: “In that time, it looks like they’ve managed to transport just two civilian vessels safely through the Strait of Hormuz, despite the immense military might that the US threw at it.” The journalist went on to detail what a massive blow this represents to Trump. “Project Freedom is paused, but it has been a failure, by all accounts so far,” she stated.
“It has been pretty embarrassing for Donald Trump. His latest push to try and reopen the Strait of Hormuz has not worked.”
The bulletin was circulated on social media as X (Twitter) users lambasted the President. One wrote: “Donald Trump is a delusional old narcissist who hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing.”
Someone else commented: “Trump is cornered and Iran knows it.
“He huffed and puffed and Iran called his bluff.” Another puzzled viewer asked: “Is Project Freedom different to operation Epic Fury?”
One more person raged: “Project Freedom?? Truth Social? Trump is living in his own fantasy world. Lock him up!” Trump has suggested that the project has been put on hold in an attempt to negotiate a deal.
Posting on Truth Social, he wrote: “Based on the request of Pakistan and other Countries… we have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalised and signed”, reports the Express.
The delay of Project Freedom, which was intended to see US forces guide trapped ships out of the Strait of Hormuz, follows reports that a US Navy warship was struck by two missiles in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, according to Iranian media.
US Central Command has since refuted these claims, stating on X: “No U.S. Navy ships have been struck.
“U.S. forces are supporting Project Freedom and enforcing the naval blockade on Iranian ports.”
