TVK MLA-elect Keerthana promotes Hindi for broader message in India

S Keerthana, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA-elect from Sivakasi, has stated that speaking in Hindi aims to spread her party’s message to a wider audience across India and abroad. “I am speaking in Hindi. I want to spread my party’s representation everywhere, all over India, even in other countries. That’s why I am speaking in Hindi. Everyone should know about my leader. Everyone should know about my party,” she told ANI.

When questioned about opposition to “Hindi imposition” by some political parties in Tamil Nadu ahead of the assembly polls, Keerthana did not directly address the concerns but highlighted her approach.

Discussing her electoral victory, she encouraged broader political engagement: “Politics is something you shouldn’t be afraid of. Everyone should get involved in politics. I am just an example; everyone should come and join politics, that’s what I want.”

Keerthana welcomed the Congress party’s alliance with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam to establish a government in Tamil Nadu. TVK, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is currently 10 MLAs short of a majority in the state assembly, with Congress holding five MLAs.

TVK chief Vijay met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar at the Lok Bhavan on Wednesday to pursue government formation efforts. In its debut assembly election, TVK achieved a strong performance, relegating DMK and AIADMK to second and third places, respectively.
