VP Sara: ‘Okay lang kahit hindi na ako Vice President’

Vice President Sara Duterte said she is not worried about possibly losing her post amid ongoing impeachment efforts, saying she can continue helping Filipinos even outside government service.

Speaking before supporters and members of the Filipino community in the Netherlands, Duterte said she was prepared regardless of whether she remains vice president or not.

“Kung manatili akong Vice President, well and good… Kung hindi man din ako maging Vice President, okay lang din sa akin,” Duterte said.

[Translation: If I remain Vice President, well and good… If I will no longer be Vice President, that is also okay with me.]

The Vice President said she never became overly attached to holding office and recalled that after serving as Davao City mayor, she also stepped away from politics while continuing legal and community work.

“Hindi ako gigil ba doon sa posisyon kasi, kahit anong posisyon naman kung gusto mo talagang tumulong sa mga tao pwede naman ‘yun,” she said.

[Translation: I am not obsessed with the position because regardless of the position, if you truly want to help people, you can do so.]

Duterte also questioned the motives behind the impeachment proceedings being pursued against her.

“Is this accountability or is this about removing a person who doesn’t agree with the administration?” she asked.

The Vice President denied claims that she would seek political revenge against critics if she remained influential in politics.

“Hindi ako kilalang tao na… vindictive,” Duterte said.

She also criticized the administration over inflation, corruption, and economic issues, saying struggling Filipinos should be prioritized over political conflicts.

Duterte is currently facing impeachment complaints linked to alleged misuse of confidential funds and other accusations raised before the House of Representatives.
