Bhooth Bangla, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, has emerged as a notable success in both the Indian and international box office markets. This film marks a significant turnaround for Kumar, who has faced a challenging period with eight consecutive box office failures. The horror-comedy has not only revitalized his career but has also outperformed several major Bollywood releases globally. Recent reports indicate that Bhooth Bangla has surpassed the Hindi collections of popular films such as Kantara Chapter 1 and 2.0.
In its fifth weekend, Bhooth Bangla demonstrated a strong performance, earning 4.05 crore in India. To date, the film has amassed a total of 185.31 crore net at the Indian box office, translating to a gross of 218.66 crore. Its overseas collections have also contributed significantly, with a current gross of 57.55 crore. When combined, the film’s worldwide gross after 31 days stands at an impressive 276.21 crore.
This achievement places Bhooth Bangla ahead of the Hindi collections of Kantara Chapter 1, which earned 274.94 crore, and 2.0, which grossed 275 crore. However, it appears that surpassing the next target, Mission Mangal, which grossed 287.18 crore, may be out of reach. Domestically, Bhooth Bangla has also outperformed Bajirao Mastani, which collected 184 crore net by the end of its fifth weekend.
As the film approaches the conclusion of its theatrical run, it is poised to potentially exceed the domestic collections of other notable films, including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (185.57 crore), the Hindi-dubbed version of 2.0 (188 crore), and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (190.03 crore). Directed by Priyadarshan, this film marks a reunion between him and Akshay Kumar after a 15-year hiatus since their last collaboration on Khatta Meetha in 2010.
Bhooth Bangla was produced on a budget of 120 crore by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ekta Kapoor under the banners of Cape of Good Films and Balaji Motion Pictures. As the film continues to draw audiences, it remains a significant entry in the current cinematic landscape, showcasing the enduring appeal of its lead actor and the horror-comedy genre.
