Householders have been warned to lock their doors after reports of vandals breaking in to homes and making a mess.
A public Facebook post was made last night (Friday) after the latest break-in happened near North Lochside, Lerwick.
A babysitter said they were at their parents’ house when someone tried to open the door.
Fortunately, they were scared away before anything happened – but the person posting said it could have been a different matter.
“I dread to think if we were both sleeping and heard nothing, “ she said.
The post also highlighted two other recent reports of break-ins from the same area.
“Please keep your doors locked both front and back,” the post continued,
“I don’t think whoever’s doing this is actually taking stuff. It seems to be more vandalism and making a mess or homes! Which is stressful in its self for someone to wake up too.”
Police have been approached for comment.
