Sky News paused for King Charles and Prince William breaking news alert | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Sky News was interrupted for a breaking news update about King Charles and Queen Camilla. They were seen arriving in Windsor as they met with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Oluremi Tinubu at Windsor Castle.

Sky’s royal commentator Alastair Bruce said: “As the King comes to a halt, having come through the town gate onto Datchet Road, he will be received by the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, and he will then take a position and wait for a short time.

“But as you were saying, there is much to take place in the background and for the Queen and for the King, the chance, as I say, to convene and to enable all those different discussions, the enormous population of Nigeria, its trade links with the United Kingdom and its cultural links, and also the elements of religion and faith which are very important to the King and are reflected in the fact that the President visiting is an avowed Muslim and his wife is an avowed Christian.

“And so in their own way, reflecting the breadth of different faiths. So the King and Queen are meeting the reception committee there at the pavilion and once they have done that, it’s a chance for the King just to eye the people who he will shortly be introducing to the President and the Queen will be presenting to the President’s wife.

“So it is, as you can see, perfectly framed by that pavilion with the United Kingdom flag and that of Nigeria as this two-day state visit is about to get going.”

The show also issued a breaking news alert as Prince William and Princess Catherine were seen greeting President Tinubu, and the First Lady at Windsor Castle.

It comes after King Charles confirmed he had decided to drop a formal lunch to accomodate the President, as he is fasting during Ramadan.

The two-day UK visit is landing during the final days of the holy month, during which observant Muslims do not consume food and drink between dawn and dusk.
