Lower Street – which leads to Castle Street – has been closed at the Trinity Road junction opposite the hospital following a crash.
A road closure is also in place in Spring Lane at the junction with Lower Street.
At around 3.30pm, one police car with flashing lights could been seen along with a closure sign at the Trinity Road junction while an unmarked police vehicle was parked in Lower Street.
A white Hyundai and a van were involved in a collision in Lower Street near the Spring Lane junction.
Police could be seen at the crash site with a recovery vehicle in attendance.
