Gloucestershire man dies after crashing bike in countryside


He was taken to hospital but sadly died from injuries

An elderly man has died after a bike crash in the Gloucestershire countryside.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed a man in his 70s sustained serious injuries after a collision in Dursley last month and later died in Bristol’s Southmead Hospital.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses after the crash at around 8.50am on Saturday, May 23 on Tickshill in Coaley.

A police spokesperson said: “The incident involved a man who was riding an Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle and took place near to Twyning Ash.

“Emergency services attended and the man, aged in his 70s, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment to serious injuries.

“The man remained in hospital for treatment and later died from his injuries. His family are now being supported by specially trained officers.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are continuing to investigate what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward.”

Police are keen to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage which they believe to be relevant.
