Two lorry fires close chunk of M25 causing major rush hour delays | News UK


There is a 17 miles queue of congestion in rush hour on the M25 this morning (Tuesday, June 2) near Leatherhead caused by a crash. The incident took place clockwise and has blocked one lane before Junction 9.

Drivers are facing delays on the M25 motorway this morning because of a massive lorry fire between J26 and J27 in Epping.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: ‘The M25 has been blocked both ways between J27 (Epping) and J26 (WalthamAbbey) due to a lorry fire. Updates to follow.’

Traffic is currently closed anti-clockwise between J28 and J27 in Essex because of another fire.

Essex Police are on the scene right now with National Highways Management in a bid to help ease traffic this morning.

Drivers are facing around ten minutes of delays, with about one mile of congestion currently on the road.

How to avert the traffic:

  • At J28: Exit the M25 onto the A12 eastbound.
  • Continue along the A12 eastbound towards J15.
  • Exit the A12 at J15 onto the A414 northbound towards Chelmsford.
  • At the Widford roundabout, take the first exit and continue on the A414 westbound.
  • Continue along the A414 westbound to J7 of the M11.
  • Take the first exit onto the M11 southbound at J7.
  • Exit the M11 onto the A406 westbound and continue for approximately 6 miles to the junction with the A10.
  • Take the A10 northbound to rejoin the M25 at J25.
