  • Compos Mentis, a free therapy programme for full-time musicians in India, is now open for applications.

The venture offers 15 musicians five sessions each with clinicians who have been briefed on nightlife culture, touring, financial uncertainty and the challenges of independent music careers.

A partnership between creative agency Interbeing and mental health non-profit Sangath Goa, both of which are based in the Indian beach state of Goa, Compos Mentis includes in-person and online therapy options. It’s funded by Big Sound Lie Around, a series of ambient listening sessions at Goa venue Vaayu Kula where audiences donate what they can.

Prakriti Abel, founder of Interbeing, called Compos Mentis “India’s first community-funded mental health initiative specifically for musicians and people working within the independent music ecosystem.”

Big Sound Lie Around plans to hold more events in other parts of India. “Funds raised through those gatherings will continue to be directed towards supporting mental health within the music ecosystem in India,” Abel told Resident Advisor.

The deadline for applications ends on June 25th. For more information, check the website below.
