Police cordoned off an area in Chinatown in Manchester with five men arrested
A police scene was put in place in Manchester city centre after a serious incident involving a group of men.
Officers were first called to the scene following a call from the ambulance service about a man with ‘an injury to his hand’ on Parker Street near Piccadilly Gardens. Police then found two men who both had cuts to their hands, a spokesperson for the force said.
The cuts were not life-threatening or life-changing. Five men, aged between 18 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

All have been taken into custody for questioning. The Manchester Evening News understands two of the men were arrested were those that were found with the injuries.
An investigation into the incident is now underway, with a scene in Chinatown forming part of Greater Manchester Police’s probe. A cordon was put in place on the corner of Nicholas Street and George Street this morning.
Pictures showed a forensic tent erected within the cordon. Crime scene investigators were also spotted scouring the scene for evidence.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Around 5.30am on Tuesday 16 June 2026, officers responded to a call from the ambulance service of a report of a man with an injury to his hand on Parker Street, Piccadilly. Patrols located two men who had cuts to their hands which were not deemed to be life-changing or life-threatening.
“Five men aged between 18 and 37 have been arrested for affray, and are currently in custody for questioning. Officers are continue with their investigation to understand circumstances which have led to this incident.”
