India maps out green textiles push

NEW DELHI – India’s government has set out a series of measures to promote the manufacture, consumption and export of green textiles, with Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh confirming the details in a written parliamentary reply to the Lok Sabha earlier this week.

Central to the initiative is a pilot project being rolled out across eight textile clusters and four fashion houses under the banner ‘Eliminating Hazardous Chemicals from Apparel Fashion Supply Chain in India’.
