A knife-wielding attacker slashed a man’s face and punched another through a taxi window before being tackled to the ground in Brighton.
The knifeman is also believed to have chased and snatched a dog before he was wrestled by members of the public in a chaotic incident at around 6pm on Saturday evening.
One man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after his face and ear were slashed on Sillwood Street, a short walk from the city’s famous beach.
The 29-year-old was discharged after treatment. A 28-year-old man who was hit through the taxi window was also assessed at hospital, while the dog was unharmed.
Officers were called to the road just before 6pm yesterday following reports of an individual with a knife.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody.
Sussex Police said the man, who lives locally, was ‘swiftly tackled to the ground by members of the public’ and his knife was seized.

Detective Inspector Stephen Taylor said: ‘This was a distressing and serious incident and the victims are being supported by officers.
‘A thorough investigation is underway to ensure we have a full picture of what happened.
‘Witnesses have come forward and we thank them for helping us in our investigation.
‘Our neighbourhood policing officers are patrolling in the area and if anyone has any concerns they should speak with them.’
