Actor and former AMMA joint secretary Ansiba Hassan has got a major boost in her legal tussle against fellow actress Tini Tom. The Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court entertained the criminal petition filed by Ansiba and asked the police to lodge an FIR and investigate the case according to her allegations. This decision was taken by the Court after Ansiba sought its help due to the police taking no action on her previous complaints.
Court directs FIR after police declined to register a case
This case arises from allegations Ansiba made against Tini Tom regarding statements he made, which were defamatory and communal in nature. As reported by English Mathrubhumi, Ansiba Haasan said that baseless allegations had been made against her, such as calling her a “jihadi” and trying to convert Tini Tom’s driver to another religion. However, after conducting a preliminary inquiry and recording statements from both actors and office-bearers of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), the police concluded there was not enough material to register an FIR. Unhappy with the decision, Ansiba moved the magistrate court, which has now directed the police to initiate a formal criminal investigation.
Defamation and communal allegations under investigation
Under the court’s orders, the next phase of the process will be the investigation. The police are supposed to file the FIR and look into all allegations made in the complaint, including defamation and communal comments. The investigation process will also involve gathering more evidence and taking more statements from those related to the case.
Case draws attention within the Malayalam film industry
The development has generated considerable interest among members of the Malayalam film fraternity since both Ansiba Hassan and Tini Tom are popular figures in the industry associated with AMMA. The court’s decision is a landmark in the case as the issue has now moved to the next level of investigation. With the police initiating the investigation process, the emphasis will be on the outcome.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
