India’s gasoline, diesel consumption rises in June, preliminary data shows


NEW DELHI, July 1 (Reuters) – India’s gasoline and diesel ‌sales continued to rise in ‌June, according to preliminary data from ​the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell of the federal oil ministry.

• Gasoline sales surged ‌7% in ⁠June from a year earlier to about 3.77 ⁠million metric tons.

• Sales of diesel, mostly used by trucks, ​rose to ​8.55 ​million tons, up ‌5.52% from June last year, the data showed.

• Sales of jet fuel fell 0.6% to 726,000 tons.

• Indian refiners’ sales ‌of liquefied petroleum ​gas, mainly used ​as ​a cooking fuel, declined ‌16.7% to 2.18 ​million tons ​as the government regulated use of the fuel amid ​supply ‌disruptions from the Middle East.
