Man stabbed as street cordoned off in Manchester


Two arrests were made in north Manchester

A man was stabbed amid a ‘disturbance’ in north Manchester. The incident happened at an address on Old Market Street on Saturday (July 11), police confirmed. Officers were initially called to reports of a disturbance.

A man was taken to hospital from the scene with a stab wound. A woman was arrested on suspicion of assault, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said.

A man was arrested on suspicion of affray. Following the incident, a police cordon was put in place on nearby Middleton Old Road on Saturday evening.

Pictures showed a number of police cars stationed on the scene. The cordon was in place for a number of hours as investigations were carried out.

The M.E.N. understands the man who was stabbed has since been discharged from hospital. His injuries were not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Police were called to a disturbance at an address on Old Market Street. A man was taken to hospital for treatment on injury consistent with stab wound.

“A woman arrested on suspicion of assault. A man was arrested on suspicion of affray.”
