Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson is to appeal his convictions for historic child sex offences, his solicitor has told the News Letter.
Donaldson was last month convicted at Newry Crown Court of 18 sex offences, including one count of rape, relating to the abuse of two women when they were children.

John McBurney, solicitor for Jeffrey Donaldson, said: “I can confirm having lodged this afternoon on behalf of Jeffrey Donaldson appeal papers with the relevant office for the Court of Appeal.”
Donaldson consistently denied the charges against him.
The former Lagan Valley MP is currently on remand in Maghaberry awaiting sentencing.
