A delivery worker was attacked in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka Upanagar over a language dispute. Police arrested four people, including a woman.

A 25-year-old delivery worker was allegedly assaulted in Bengaluru following a dispute over language, in the early hours of Saturday.
The victim, identified as Basavaraj, is pursuing his studies while working as a delivery agent. Police said the incident occurred around 3.30 am after he completed a delivery and was travelling from 4th Phase in Yelahanka New Town towards Santhosh Nagar.
The incident took place around 3.30 am on Saturday when the delivery agent was reportedly making a delivery. According to the FIR, Basavaraj encountered a group of girls walking along the road who allegedly abused him in Hindi. He told them that he did not understand Hindi and asked them to explain the reason for the remarks in Kannada.

The argument reportedly escalated when the girls allegedly pulled off his cap and attempted to attack him. Basavaraj then contacted the police helpline 112 and called his acquaintance Ashok for assistance.
The delivery worker was allegedly pulled onto the road and beaten. CCTV footage of the incident shows one man assaulting him, before others joined in and attacked the victim.
The victim claimed he was struck on the back, head and nose, resulting in bleeding injuries. When Ashok reached the spot and tried to intervene, he was allegedly assaulted as well. The accused also allegedly issued threats and abused both men, according to the complaint.
“The girls who had stopped him allegedly called some boys to the spot. Subsequently, about four to five boys and girls together allegedly assaulted him with their hands and a wooden stick lying on the road, hitting him on his back, head and nose and causing bleeding injuries,” the FIR stated.
Police have arrested four people, including a woman, in connection with the assault.
