Israeli President Isaac Herzog met with Filipino Bernie Lavarias, husband of OFW Mary Ann de Vera, to convey the nation’s grief following her death in a missile attack.
“On behalf of the State of Israel, I send my deepest condolences to Mary Ann’s family and the entire nation of the Philippines,” Herzog said.
The president praised the Filipino community’s “compassion, dedication, and contributions,” and confirmed that De Vera’s family will receive compensation.
The Filipina caregiver’s remains will return to Manila this weekend.
