Featuring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in leading roles, Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha premiered on April 10 and has already made a significant impact at the box office. Directed by Shaneil Deo, Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha is a labor of love for Adivi Sesh and has been produced as a bilingual feature in both Telugu and Hindi. In addition to him and Mrunal, the film showcases Anurag Kashyap in a crucial role, supported by a talented cast that includes Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, Sunil, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla. In an exclusive interview with Times Now, Anurag Kashyap candidly discussed how the Hindi film industry never offered him the same level of support that the Telugu film industry provided for his debut project.
Anurag Kashyap’s Exclusive Interview
He mentioned, “The little things are important, so professionally, I had not been acting. I have just started now, but I wasn’t ready mentally or physically.” He also shared that there was a day when he fell ill and sustained an injury. “Everyone on the set feels like family to me. I could be thriving here.”

Regarding the AK fans who express a desire for the original Anurag Kashyap to return, the actor-director responded, “I have distanced myself from the perception of who people think Anurag Kashyap is.”
The director also revealed that initially, Anurag Kashyap was reluctant due to his commitments to two other films. However, as the story unfolded, he began to appreciate the character’s complexity.
More About Dacoit Ek Prem Katha
Returning to Dacoit, the narrative centers on a profound emotional struggle, following an enraged convict seeking vengeance against his ex-girlfriend who deceived him. Initially scheduled for release on March 19, the film’s debut was pushed to April 10 due to a saturated box office.
The Telugu-Hindi bilingual has been heavily promoted in both regions. However, the film’s ambitions for pan-India success may not come to fruition at the box office. Early indicators and the lack of substantial excitement suggest a lackluster opening for the film.
In India, Dacoit’s advance ticket sales began sluggishly. The film managed to sell only 25k tickets on the online platform BookMyShow in the two days prior to its release. In contrast, major Telugu films like The RajaSaab and Ustaad Bhagat Singh sold 500K and 394K tickets, respectively.
