Paramedics found the body at a residential property on Rainham Road South at around 9.30am this morning (April 6).
Police were called and a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death is being treated by the Met Police as unexpected but not suspicious.
Further enquiries into the circumstances around his death are ongoing.
Rainham Road South was closed both ways by police following the incident but has since reopened.
Pictures show forensic officers at a block of flats near the road.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “We were called at 09:24hrs on Sunday, 6 April after paramedics found the body of a man at a residential property in Rainham Road South, Dagenham.
“Officers responded and a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being treated as unexpected but is not believed to be suspicious.
“Further enquiries are taking place to establish the circumstances.”
