The Environment Agency has been called to deal with an oil spillage on the edge of Market Harborough.
Neighbours in the eastern part of the town have contacted The Harborough Mail over the weekend to report strong smells.
And the EA has now confirmed that it has been down to the site, off the A6, to clean up the mess.
The EA said that no impact on wildlife has been seen and they are keeping a close eye on the situation.

A spokesperson for the EA said: “We are aware of an oil pollution in a drainage ditch adjacent to the A6 road on the eastern side of Market Harborough. Environment Agency staff have visited the site, taken samples and traced the source.
“Contractors were on site Saturday cleaning and containing the oil to ensure no spread, they will be back on site on Monday (23/03) to continue the clean-up. We ask that the public avoids the site until the clean-up is complete to allow the contractors to continue their important work.”
The EA is asking members of the public to report potential environmental incidents to their 24/7 hotline 0800 807060 or to CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555111.
