Donald Trump has announced a two-week ceasefire in the US-Iran conflict as the president and his team work to negotiate a “workable” peace agreement with the regime
Fox News cut directly to the White House press conference after its live coverage was interrupted by a breaking news alert. President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform that the US and Iran were “very far along” with a “definitive” peace agreement and that he had approved a two-week ceasefire to allow negotiations to continue.
In a recent update, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized the media for reporting on Iran’s initial 10-point peace proposal, suggesting the president was furious after she claimed it was immediately discarded. In his announcement, Trump referenced a 10-point proposal from Iran that he described as “workable”.
Mention of a 10-point proposal from Iran led many to assume Trump was referring to the plan presented by the Iranian regime days before the ceasefire agreement. That plan included control over the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of sanctions, and permission for Iran to continue enriching uranium. During Wednesday’s briefing, Karoline criticized the press, asserting the Trump administration would never accept Iran’s “unserious” demands. It comes after Karoline Leavitt made a huge change to her appearance following an “epic failure” before she takes maternity leave.

She stated: “The Iranians originally put forward a 10-point plan that was fundamentally unserious, unacceptable, and completely discarded. It was literally thrown in the garbage by President Trump and his negotiating team.”
Leavitt continued: “Many outlets in this room have falsely reported on that plan as being acceptable to the United States, and that is false. With the president’s deadline rapidly approaching, and the United States military delivering devastating blows to Iran with each passing hour, the regime was forced to acknowledge reality at the negotiating table, reports the Express.
“They put forward a more reasonable and entirely different and condensed plan to the president and his team. President Trump and the team determined the new modified plan was a workable basis on which to negotiate and to align it with our own 15-point proposal.”
Karoline added: “The president’s red lines, namely the end of uranium enrichment in Iran, have not changed, and the idea that President Trump would ever accept an Iranian wish list as a deal is completely absurd.”
The US and Iran will now enter into negotiations over the next two weeks, allowing some breathing room in the effort to reach a lasting settlement.
The ceasefire arrives just days after Trump issued a stark warning of the destruction of Iranian civilization, “never to be brought back again”.
