Fox News halted its regular programming to air a breaking news update in another brutal blow to President Donald Trump. On Friday (March 27), Brian Kilmeade returned to the airwaves, where he discussed the latest stories hitting the headlines. It didn’t take long for things to turn political as he shared the results of a poll they ran on the Republican leader’s job performance since his return to office.
He warned: “The President is on the clock with the American people. A new Fox News poll shows the President’s approval rating taking a hit amid rising gas prices. Now, 64% of registered voters disapprove of the President’s performance on Iran, 71% of people disapprove of the handling of inflation, and 66% disapprove of the President’s performance on the economy.”
The broadcaster added that all of these big changes are connected by oil, which could drive up prices and further intensify the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. Fans soon flocked to social media to share their concerns online, with one user penning: “Trump losing Fox is like losing his own base, that’s when you know it’s bad.”
Another agreed: “Even Fox News’ polling shows that Donald Trump‘s approval rating is taking a hit. When you’ve lost Fox as a Republican, you know you’re in big trouble.” A third fumed: “How it can still be 41% approval is beyond me. There are some basic American values conservatives, liberals, and moderates should all be able to agree on.”
Meanwhile, others jumped to the President’s defence, with one user arguing: “Fox is not reliable”, as another echoed: “Fox News has a terrible pollster. Something I’ve always known.” Earlier this week, TV cameras caught the moment the US President’s face appeared to “drop” and he closed his eyes – seemingly falling asleep during a televised meeting.
Trump seemed like he was struggling to stay awake, jerking suddenly when he heard his own name mentioned, but otherwise letting his chin fall closer to his chest. Viewers quickly cottoned on to what was happening and turned to social media, with one tweeting: “Trump’s face is drooping, and his eyes are closed.”
Another agreed: “Briefly opens his eyes when he hears his name. My dog used to do that.” While a third viewer posted: “Trump is unfit for office! The 25th amendment out to be utilised.” Someone else posted: “The way he jerks awake… scary.”
Yet more X users tweeted: “His brain is running at a low idle,” and “If Biden had looked like that in a cabinet meeting, it would have been the lead story on Fox News for two weeks. They’d run with it as the top story every hour on the hour.”
It comes after Trump was spotted with a discoloured hand and drooping face earlier this week. Standing behind Homeland Security head Markwayne Mullin in the Oval Office, his eyes seemed to close of their own accord while he was still standing.
Trump seemed to shake out his hand a few times, with some viewers suspecting make-up had been applied to conceal bruises his press secretary claims are from “shaking hands too much.”
